Warm-Up Protocols and Performance Relationship in Swimming Training: A Systematic Review

This systematic review aims to investigate the physiological, biomechanical, and performance-based effects of various warm-up protocols applied in swimming training. Based on the reviewed literature, warm-up increases muscle temperature, enhances enzymatic activity, optimizes motor unit activation, and raises the lactate threshold, thus improving endurance. Additionally, dynamic stretching and in-water technical drills enhance joint range of motion, providing hydrodynamic advantages during swimming. The injury-preventive effects of warming up are also supported by increased musculotendinous elasticity and improved proprioceptive feedback. This study offers a practical warm-up protocol for coaches and swimmers, serving as a scientific guide to enhance swimming performance.
